RGE Group acquired the 350-acre Rimrock Subdivision in Rifle Colorado in April, 2008. Rifle’s economy is seeking to diversify around energy growth, construction/development, and commercial. The demand for housing is extreme. Rifle is one of Colorado’s western slope communities that is experiencing explosive growth substantially due to energy development of both natural gas production and new technologies related to extraction of crude shale oil as well as the appeal of the western slope’s temperate climate and access to the mountains and resort communities of Aspen, Vail and Glenwood Springs. The new Rimrock development proposes approximately 1,348 residential units, 346 single-family homes and the other 1,002 will account for a combination of duplexes, townhomes, condominiums, and lofts above the 110,000 sq ft of neighborhood commercial space.

The natural beauty of the canyons and buttes surrounding the site, which contribute to its desert feel, will inspire the architecture. The New Western Village concept stems from New Urbanism by adapting the unique physical characteristics of the Rifle area blending in intensive uses of a commercial core and flowing out to less intensive uses. Rimrock will also create space for 1-2 school sites that will serve the growing population in the Garfield County School District.
