In 2005, Vail Mountain was ranked as the “No. 2 Ski Resort in North America” for the third consecutive year, according to SKI Magazine’s annual readers poll. Nearby Beaver Creek sits at No. 6. With continually increasing skier traffic, Vail Resorts (the operator of the Vail and Beaver Creek ski areas) has invested over $125 million in improvements to Vail Mountain over the past 10 years, and has recently announced an additional $1 billion renovation program.

The 2005 year in real estate shattered 2004's record of $2.2 billion. At $2.8 billion sold, real estate continues to boom in every sector of the market. With inventory dropping,and properties sometimes selling within a day of being listed, there are often multiple bids. The great demand on available property is said to be driving prices higher than ever with some properties selling for over $2,000 per square foot.
